Dream it-Believe it-Achieve it!

Standard

Hiya!
Something that I think is really important for everyone is dreams. Not only the magical ones at nighttime that can make you wake up with a sleepy grin, but the dreams you think about daily that you hope to one day achieve. All dreams come from the heart, and I like to think of the process like a dream making machine. Once your heart knows what you want, it sends a message to your head and then you can decide whether you want to start working for it to come true or to just think on it a bit longer.

When you have a strong dream that you want to do, it won’t usually  just happen to you, you have to do your part of the work. Like for example, my CRPS foot. I wanted to get back to walking and it didn’t happen just by me sitting in bed resting my foot. I had to work with people and do lots of difficult physio to get where I am now, walking short distances without my crutches. Aside from all those physical things I had to do, making a dream board and being able to see it everyday helped a lot too. Every morning I look up at my dream board and imagine how good it will feel once I achieve my goals so that it starts my day in a happy way. A great thing about a dream board is that you can be as creative as you like when making it. I have been  honoured to be able to see other dream boards and I noticed how all the different designs explained the people who made them. Some had pictures and words, and some had quotes and drawings. I decided to have little patterned cards that I thoughtfully pegged up on my dream board,  so that as soon as I achieve a dream I can take that card down and put a new one up.

I am going to keep the cards that I have completed so that I can hole punch through them and turn them into a book of memories for when I’m older. Then I can see everything I went through, all the dreams that I put up and proudly achieved and took down. I once heard that a comfort zone is a prison of your own making, so push your boundaries out wide for your dream board, especially since there is no limit to what one person can achieve.

So get out the glue gun, scissors, printer and imagination and start creating your dreams today!

Howdy-do!

I am super sorry that it has been such a long time since my last post, but I have been going through some very hard, very sad times. I will blog more about this another day. Today I want to write about something very special that happened to me.

For weeks and weeks I have been working on my silly, annoying, painful foot (Lexi Lefty) to get her back wearing runners to school. I have been trying to work out a motivating reward for achieving my goals, and then it hit me; where is the number one place I have been dying to visit? Tiffany and Co. of course! My mum brought up that at Chadstone shopping centre in Melbourne there is Tiffany’s, plus all the high fashion stores like Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Ralph Lauren, Chanel (ahhhhhhh!), and heaps more. I couldn’t believe my ears! One shopping centre had every shop I had ever dreamed of going into! So I obviously said YES and that was how I made Chadstone my reward for achievement, but there were a couple of tricky goals I had to meet too. They were definitely worth it! In my goal diary we set a date to travel over to Chadstone. It was last Tuesday. My whole family came along too (not the best idea to have five people squashed into a little car though!). When we arrived, well … we sort of got lost…but then we found it and we walked in with massive smiles on our faces, especially mine! My mum and I got all dressed up fancy in our very best clothes and then all of a sudden I saw these shops, one after another that I had read about everywhere! I was speechless!! Not surprisingly,  the very first shop I went into was Tiffany’s. I had already gone onto their website and worked out what I could afford, because I wanted a souvenir to keep forever. I saw this breathtakingly glamorous pendent that I absolutely LOVED!!! It said Tiffany and Co. on the front and it was shaped as a love heart. It was perfect!!

I had been saving up all my  Christmas and birthday money to buy something special, and as soon as I saw it I knew that was what I wanted! I also bought a chain (not from Tiffany’s), and went to another store. I worked my way around and then became the happiest 11 year old girl on earth!

Guess what else?  At Prada, Gucci and Tiffany’s (of coarse!) the lovely shop assistants prepared for me, bags with glossy catalogues in them…but nobody else knew that, so I was walking around looking like I was rich buying all these things that were really only pieces of paper! Even my brother and sister fell for it! I got lots of pictures of us outside and inside of the stores too.

I was very grateful, and as soon as we got home I unwrapped my bag, box and other mini bag and tried on my necklace straight away. But this necklace is a symbol of something extremely important. It represents strength and classiness to me- I can feel brave and determined at the same time as feeling gorgeous. It was beautiful! My expensive dream actually came true! And I enjoyed every minute of it. I am such a lucky girl! 😀

Even now after having a nasty fall on my foot and being stuck in bed in agony, just looking at my necklace sends positive vibes throughout my body that makes me want to power along my pain just like I imagine Audrey would do.

I hope everyone’s holidays have been really special. Also, I hope your Easters have been just as great. 🙂 Everybody have an epic day relaxing before everything goes a bit crazy again! Haha!

“For beautiful eyes,

Look for the good in others;

For beautiful lips,

Speak only words of kindness;

And for poise

Walk with knowledge that you are never alone.”

Doubting being Different

Standard

Yo!
The past couple of weeks have been very rough for me. I have had big episodes of migraines and my foot has been playing up again. Since it was so hard for me to walk with crutches, I was using the wheelchair instead. We had to go out lots and when we did people would stare at me, kids would ask what’s wrong with me, and it all would make me feel a bit sad that they were treating me differently. This went on for a long time and I would try to act normal, but everyone was focused on the wheelchair. But now I have really had a think about it all. I already know that everyone’s different and unique. Who cares if people treat you differently. If I’m being honest, I get a bit more respect being in a wheelchair than walking with my own two legs! Strangers were more kind and considerate to me. I have no idea why I was so sad about the situation. I know that I am unique in lots of ways, and I want to show it! From now on I am going to wear funky, fluro ears when I want to, do a bit of dancing without being embarrassed, and just be myself! Being myself is how people like me, and want to be friends with me. Now I honestly don’t care if people stare at me or talk about me, because I will take the positives out of it. All this time people have been very kind. If you are on crutches, in a wheelchair, or have some sort of a disability, I don’t think you should be ashamed of it, be proud of it! Now you can relate to even more people and you will be able to share your experiences. I know I have already done that. When people ask, I explain what CRPS is, which means that I am raising awareness of my condition as not many people have heard of it…knowledge is power! Lots of other people have shared their conditions with me too.
If I were you, I would never look at the negatives of the situation, I would keep a really positive mind! Sometimes if you talk about the issue out aloud, it can clear your mind and you can have a fresh brain.
In my last post, I was doing a random act of kindness. If you think about it, you don’t really know the story behind people. Whether have nothing going on or everything going on, it is really nice to receive a little present, kind words or letter. For example: I have a friend that has something called Aspergers Syndrome. She has trouble understanding things and reading people. Nobody knows she has Aspergers, and so people would say jokes but she would take them seriously. It really hurt her most of the time. I think that if she received a little kindness from anyone she would feel much happier.
You don’t know what is going on in people’s lives if they don’t want to show it. This is how everybody is different. You never know who needs it more, so that is why you should be joyous to everyone. I am trying to make the world a happier place, and there is always room for help…

The Nature of Art

Standard

IMG_6479

Hi guys!

Whenever I am a bit sore or too tired to do anything active, I like to create art. I found a lady that made artwork out of nature and I decided to have a go at it. Her name is Justina Blakeney. She is really clever! Her artwork is titled ‘Face the Foliage’ and Mum showed me her account on Instagram.

Yesterday we drove to the park and went on a hunt for different coloured leaves, flowers and lots of other treasures from nature. Once we had collected all the things I needed for my art project, we went home and I started doing a plan on a blank piece of paper. Then I started the real thing and thought I would share how I did it with you. I am not going to tell you what the picture is because it is for me to know and for you to find out! Have a guess and let me know what you think it is and you will find out the answer at the end of this short clip…

The ‘Craft’ of Distraction for Pain Relief: Hair Pins

Standard

Hey hi!

Today’s post is very fun, because it is arts and craft! I have made little hair pins that are quick and easy.

Doing things you enjoy can distract your brain from pain. Arts and crafts are good ways to make you feel happy, even on a bad day. The bad days are the most important ones to feel happy, so that is why I recommend doing something you really enjoy, especially creative things. And the best part is, the achievements you make.

I have made this movie that gives you the instructions. If you need help Miss Z (my zebra), will be telling you what you need and what to do. You can do bling on the clips, or you can do plain. Whatever you do, just make it express who you are, because you are the one that will be wearing it. If you are not an adult, make sure there is one near by, because you will probably need one.

Please watch my movie, I really hope it inspires you to do something creative whether you are a girl or boy, adult or child!
If you enjoy the movie, please could you press the like button, then I will know to create more hair pin ideas, for you to come back again and check them out.

Hello There!

Today I will be talking to you about pain and going on adventures.

When I need to try and cope with my pain I like to use my imagination. I love using my imagination because it makes me feel free. I may have a foot with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) but using my head I can walk, run and shoot hoops. I also love going on adventures. Sometimes I meet the Queen in England, or go to Disneyland in Paris! Whatever it is I try to make it fun, so maybe you should try it too.

Another thing I suggest you try is writing a story about your adventures. Today I wrote my own story called “The adventures of Mimi & Momo!”

It is about two little kittens that learn a long life lesson: the only people you need in your life is your family. If you want to listen to my story, please select the audio recording above.

If you need help planning dreams, please take my advice and just try it: First of all in the daytime I plan my dream everywhere I go I would think about my dream.

Each night, I would act out my dream for about 10-15 then go to sleep dreaming about it.

The next day I would do the same thing, but a different dream.

And the best bit is that my adventures teach me a thing or two!

I have got other tips about pain and how to get it to a lower level, so make sure you look at my next post.

The Beginning of Fluro!

Standard

Hello!

Just to let you know, this is the first blog I have ever done. I am 10 years old and cant wait to begin! My blog will be about my life and how it has its different fluro colours, happy fluro and pain fluro. I have hurt my foot and now have a nervous system dysfunction. This is called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, or for short, CRPS. My life has got its ups and its downs. I have made this blog so that other kids, or parents of children with this condition can get recovery ideas from what helps me. What I have in my foot is very rare, and even more so for children. For adults it can stay with you for life, so that is why I am lucky I’m just a kid. All you need to keep telling yourself as a kid is how you are going to get through it and that once it is all over you will be so strong.

I will also be telling you other things that happen in my life and I promise to share all the best bits too. You may have a few meltdowns, but for me that’s all I need and then I am ready to push for whatever I need done. I’m just an ordinary girl that loves all the extraordinary things in life… that’s what makes living in fluro such a wonderful adventure.

Thank you for looking on my blog. I’d love you to visit me again soon!
EDIT:

I didn’t want to completely change my About Me page, but I’m a little bit older now. I started this blog when I was 10 years old, but now I am 12. I still suffer from CRPS, although I am on a much better road with more strategies and solutions to calming down my nervous system. I love posting about my life and giving advice to others, and I hope everyone will still follow me! My life could never be black and white and boring, there is always something special going on that I can learn about everyday, and that is the biggest thing that I have learnt. I just have a naturally colourful and fluro life I guess, which makes me very lucky!
Thank you very much everyone, FZ 🙂
